Thabiso Simelane is the Senior Phase Maths Cluster and Partnerships Coordinator at OLICO Maths Education in Sandton. As a key member of the OLICO team, he has been involved in developing innovative solutions to the maths challenge facing learners in Grades 7-9. Using a tailored blend of teaching and technology, Thabiso works with learners in developing their mathematical fundamentals by improving number fluency and adopting a sense-making and confidence building approach to the curriculum. The tools and resources used by Thabiso are freely available for others to access, including an extensive online program for the entire Grade 7-9 maths curriculum. Thabiso holds a BCom Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from St Augustine’s College of South Africa and is a  BA (Hons) in Peace Studies currently. The undergraduate program disciplines taught him critical thinking skills, reasoning endurance and tolerance.  His areas of interest are Social, Educational & Economic development. Having previously worked for IkamvaYouth Gauteng, his passion for educational development blossomed as he witnessed the amount of support learners needed with their school work.
